Former NFL starDamon Arnette 'was arrested on gun and meth charges last month' less than a year af
Former Las Vegas Raiders star Damon Arnette was arrested on gun and meth charges in Texas last month, according to reports.
Arnette, who was let go by the Raiders in 2021 over a troubling video of him threatening to kill someone while waving weapons, was handed a community sentence in May of last year for brandishing a firearm in a row with Las Vegas casino valets.
Less than a year on from that sentencing, the defensive back has landed himself in hot water again after being caught in possession of a gun once more, along with recreational drug methamphetamine.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has revealed that Arnette was arrested and charged with possession of less than a gram of meth and unlawful carrying of a firearm in Richardson on January 6.
Further details of the arrest are so far unavailable.

However, Arnette’s legal counsel insist reports of their client being arrested for possession of meth and firearms are ‘simply incorrect’.
‘Our client, at the time of the stop, was unable to provide law enforcement with his prescription for a lawful medication,’ Jason Lampert of Salzano, Ettinger, Lampert & Wilson, LLP and Thomas Wynne of Milner Wynne said in a statement to NFL media.
‘The arrest was predicated on Mr. Arnette being unable to prove the medication was prescribed, had he been able to do so at the time of the stop there would have been no arrest for either the controlled substance of the firearms.’
The Raiders picked Arnette 19th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft following his impressive rise at Ohio State, before he went on to feature nine times in his rookie season.
Prior to his release, he had also lined up for the team four times in the 2021 season.
However, in November of that year Arnette was dropped amid two lawsuits and the concerning video he posted on social media.
The clip showed Arnette repeatedly threatening to kill someone while brandishing what appeared to be semi-automatic weapons.
Two months after that video emerged, he was said to have brandished a gun at the Park MGM Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.
The defensive back was given 50 hours of community service as well as a $2,000 fine
Arnette was eventually given 50 hours of community service in May of last year, as well as a $2,000 fine by Clark County district judge Ron Israel after being indicted on felony gun charges. The Vegas judge also told him he needed to stay away from firearms.
He had changed his plea to guilty after previously pleading not guilty to charges of misdemeanor assault and drawing a deadly weapon.
The former Ohio star was on the Chiefs’ books at the time of his arrest, only to be released by Kansas City in light of the allegations.
He was also arrested in Miami later that year and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.
Following his court hearing last year, Arnette revealed he was looking to get back into the NFL, saying he had been in talks with the Dallas Cowboys, but the court case had to be settled for talks to progress.
