Just like his father, he grew up to become a famous American professional football coach who is now the head coach and general manager of the New England Patriots of the National Football League.

In 1975, he was the Special Assistant of the Baltimore Colts. He became the Assistant special team of the Detroit Lions in 1976. The following year, he became their Receiver.

In 1978, he became the Assistant special teams & defensive assistant of the Denver Broncos.  In 1979, Belichick began a 12-year stint with the New York Giants alongside head coach Ray Perkins as a defensive assistant and special teams coach. He added linebackers coaching to his duties in 1980.

He was the  Head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 1991 to 1995. In 1996, he became the Assistant head coach and defensive back for the New England Patriots. From 1997 to 1999, he was the Assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the New York Jets.

He is currently the Head coach of New England Patriots having coached them since 2000.
